Christmas (a little late)

I got this one on the first try and loved it so much I didn't take anymore on Christmas Day.  But I know I haven't posted much over the past couple weeks so I'll try and make up for it. 

Night night (part II)

Once she put her dada to bed, she decided the cold kitchen floor looked pretty comfy, too.  So she had me help her go "night night" right next to him.

Yes, she is still obsessed with putting all things living and non-living to bed, or to "night night".  I guess she decided that her dad looked very tired while in the kitchen so she insisted he go night night right then and there...

....and with the smallest blanket she could find.

Weee...weee...weee...weee

Is what this little monkey says as she's riding around in a little scooter thing one of Chris's aunts gave her for her birthday.  Totally deadpan and over and over (she is my daughter afterall).  Sometimes she says it as she's playing with a puzzle piece shaped like an airplane, moving it around in the air.  She did not, actually, say it as we were pushing her on the swing (I'd say her favorite thing at the playground).  Chris and I were just saying it as she was giggling and squealing with actual delight because we think it's hilarious.

Just had to share this one

I'm not sure I will be able to do more than one little ponytail on her head, so I had to post this little cute hair-do that her teachers gave her yesterday.  Chris and I both thought it was so cute...

This, by the way was exactly the 20th picture I took of her within a 5 minute timespan.  She is so wiggly, I could not something better than this one.  When will someone invent a camera that takes pictures faster!

Sick baby

Our little monkey was sick off and on most of last week so I didn't really get any photos taken of her.  She was fighting a fever all week then broke out in a very faint rash, normal stuff for a baby, but we were all pretty miserable all week.  But to celebrate her getting better, we took a VERY quick trip to the Aquarium.  I'm not sure she lasted 10 even minutes this time.  She mainly wanted to run around on the boardwalk, but since it was so cold, we couldn't spend too much time outside.

Burping the baby

Our little monkey is obsessed with two things right now.  1) putting anything and everything down for "night night" including the remote control (I'll try to get a picture or video of that to post) and 2) burping people.  Her aunt got a picture and video of her burping one of her dolls (first time I've seen her do this to her dolls instead of a person).  I couldn't get the video to post right, so here's a photo...it's pretty funny hearing her make fake burps.  Probably not the best thing to teach our little monkey, but I can't help it...it's funny to me.  (Sorry for the dark photo)

Happy Halloween!

Little frog for Halloween.  Easiest costume I could think of...thank goodness for footie pajamas!  Once I put it together I thought "I am definitely bringing my crafty mother and crafty sisters to shame" but it doesn't look as "homemade" as I thought.  She is so cute that I don't think anyone would really notice the costume anyway :)

beautiful fall day

We went to a petting zoo over the weekend.  I had no idea what to expect...apparently neither did the little monkey.  Our first "animal" we got to experience was a little puppy.  As soon as she started warming up to it, it would lick her so she'd get nervous again, so I guess getting a puppy anytime soon is out (phew).  Next animal, ducks and chicks.  She wanted to walk around with them in their little pen, but did NOT want to pet them.  They were squirmy anyway :)

Getting to be the holiday season

It's not Halloween yet, but this outfit is so cute I want to get as many "wears" out of it that I can before she gets too big.  She even let me put a barrette in her hair, or as she calls it, a "bow".

Yes, she does need two pairs of sunglasses while being chauffeured around and eating string cheese.

I should also mention that right after I took this photo and put the camera in my pocket to try and catch this crazy kid running at me, she literally stopped and just sauntered away as if she wasn't just charging straight for me.  Such a goofball.

Over/Under

If you know our little monkey, you know she likes to climb up onto things.  Much to the detriment of my poor nerves.  Recently she's been crawling under things, though.  I'm glad she moved on from the dining room table, which has really sharp pieces of metal sticking out that can and has cut her poor little head.  I'm not sure this is better for my nerves as she tries to crawl out, but it of course makes me laugh.  This time, she hung out here for about 10 minutes while I was in the living room.  She would say "crackuh" every couple of minutes and when I would walk into the kitchen to give her a cracker, she would do the sign for "eat" or "more", like in this photo with the little grin on her face.

I tried to get a good picture of the little curls in her hair but she just moves so fast. 

Morning at the Aquarium

Our little monkey's first trip to see some live "creatures" - other than the birds, seagulls and dogs she sees all the time.  So we took her to a tiny little aquarium that's about 20 minutes from our house - perfect quick trip to take before lunch and a nap.  We weren't surprised at all that she wanted to jump into the "pool" with the seals and into the "pond" with the turtles.  And absolutely LOVED the tank with the bigger fish. The little fish and the penguins weren't that exciting to her this time around...

Off to work!

Silly kid, just decides to carry the heaviest things she can find. In this case, my purse/workbag.  Mostly heavy because I have treats and water and emergency stuff for this little one, but still, the weight of something never seems to deter her from wanting to carry it around...

So what if these shoes are as long as my body...

Monkey's first "selfie"

Good thing my sister is so good at taking pictures.  This one is of my goofy/cute nephew, wearing Granddad's cowboy boots and hat.  As soon as I pulled my phone out to take a picture, he started "dancing".  I was laughing so hard I couldn't get a good picture!

We were lucky enough to be able to take some time and head out West for several days this summer.  As usual, I didn't take any photos.  The little monkey immediately attached herself to this little guy though and my mother told me to take it home.  I had no idea it really was my sister's from when she was young.  So really I'm just posting this to make sure they all know our little monkey loves, loves, loves her new puppy...

Happy 4th! Learning some signs...

Our little monkey has managed to learn a few signs at daycare.  We were actually told she was #1 in her class (I'm allowed to brag a little, right?)  Here she is, asking for food probably, and saying "please" in sign language.  Between that and her earnest little expression, it just melts me every time she does it.

Summer fun

I know I'm missing some weeks here - don't worry, I'll keep posting every week (or as much as I can).  But now I don't have to count!

As I am counting the weeks, I am hoping I did the math right so that she is actually 52 weeks at the same time this blog says she's 52 weeks.  I guess we'll see...

For the last 8 Saturdays, we took the little monkey to swim lessons.  I'd say she loved it up until the last two lessons.  Just kind of was done I guess...maybe she just needs some new challenges.  But, her grandma kept asking for some photos - we weren't really allowed to take any until the last day, so here is the best one I could get...

It's a little blurry, but she is laughing away trying to get to the wall to climb out and get me.

Different people tell us all the time that our little monkey looks exactly like Chris, and then another person will tell me she looks exactly like me.  I think it depends on the day and mostly the expression on her face.  This picture, however, I don't think looks like either one of us.  What do you think?

The monkey has had so many snowdays, it's been fun to be able to take a break from work and play with her.  One snowday, we thought we should show her how to use this cute walker that Chris bought her for Christmas.  She took a step and then fell down and then wasn't interested anymore.  The next day at daycare, she became a total pro!  Now she can do this...

She had to stop and wave half-way through the kitchen of course.  Another new thing she likes to do...
